Paul Components introduces two new shifter options

Cyclists are a creative bunch, and there will likely never be an end to the kind of ways that folks will want to make one thing work with another. As a partner in this crime, Paul Components has been building some of of the most useful and well-crafted adapters on the market (as well as hubs, cranksets, brakes and more) from its Chico, California, headquarters.


The latest wares fresh from the CNC machine are two new shifter adapters. The first is a new version of the legendary Thumbies that allow you to use bar-end shifters as thumb shifters. In addition to Shimano and SRAM the new version is compatible with Microshift bar-end shifters that are spec’d on many Surly models. Want to convert your Cross-check to a flat bar bike? These adapters are what you need. They are available in singles ($39) or sold in pairs ($74).


The second is a bit more outside-the-box: a 31.8mm mount for SRAM Matchmaker compatible shifters, allowing riders to mount an 11-speed flat bar shifter on their drop bars near the stem. SRAM’s popular single-chainring, 11-speed drivetrains (like XX1) are a great option for adventure riding, but if you want to use dirt drop bars, this is the adapter you need. It retails for $41.
