Riders at the start of the 2014 ride from New York to Washington D.C.

The life of a professional chef is always stressful and competitive, so there’s no surprise they would take to cycling to escape the kitchen. This summer dozens of chefs and restaurant industry professionals will ride in one of two 300 mile charity rides to raise money for No Kid Hungry. Known as Chefs Cycle, the rides will travel from New York to Washington D.C. from June 7-9 and from Santa Barbara to San Diego from June 14-16.

You can meet the chefs participating and make donations to their campaigns at chefscycle.org. No Kid Hungry is a campaign by Share Our Strength, a non-profit organization founded in the wake of the 1984-1985 famine in Ethiopia to combat hunger and poverty around the world. It connects kids and parents to effective nutrition programs like school breakfasts and summer meals, as well as helping families learn how to shop smarter and healthier.
