The world’s only inflatable bike ride is celebrating Bike to Work Day in San Ramon, California, at Bishop Ranch on Thursday, May 14, 2015. (Technically Bike to Work Day is Friday, May 15, so you can still commute. -Ed.)
Known as the Aeolian Ride, Aeolian is a Greek word which means “to be caused or carried by the wind.” The costumes inflate as you ride—don’t worry, you won’t get carried away—at least not by the wind.
According to ride founder Jessica Findley, the ride has a magical effect, transforming everyday streets, while creating a loop of joy between the spectator and the riders. The first Aeolian inflatable bike ride was organized in New York in 2004, and has since visited 19 cities.
Because there are a limited number of inflatable suits, participants are asked to get tickets and join the ride at www.aeolian-ride.info. The ride begins at 11:30 a.m.
