Bicycle Times Walks the Walk... er, Rides the Ride

bicycle times commutesWe do a lot of bike commuting here at the Bicycle Times / Dirt Rag offices. Why not carry on with our riding ways while in Las Vegas for Interbike?

Interbike 2009

Once again Interbike is nigh. The entire staff of Dirt Rag and Bicycle Times will be headed out west to the desert to cover the show from a multitude of angles. Expect social media posts, blog entries on both web sites, photo galleries and even video!

So what do I expect to be hot this year? I’ll break it down for you.

Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition Announces Bike Industry Leadership Awards

terryThe Outdoor Industries Women's Coalition (OIWC) announced the 2009 winners of the bike industry's Pioneering Woman and First Ascent Awards. Georgena Terry, Founder of Terry Precision Cycling, will be presented the Pioneering Woman Award. The Pioneering Woman Award recognizes a woman with a commitment to mentoring female colleagues, which exemplifies the OIWC's mission to equip, educate and support women in the outdoor industries.

Ride for a Cause

Instead of doing a daily journal for the 2009 Pennsylvania Perimeter
Ride Against Cancer, I am just going to write a bit about my highlights
of the ride. I was able to take copious amounts of notes during the
2007 ride, but I didn’t seem to find the time this year. There is no
shortage of stories and memories, and I’ll detail some of them here.
But none of us really needs to read about my perspective on every
little detail of the week. However, I am going to break it up into
three digestible posts instead of one really long entry.

Interview with Bicycle Quarterly's Jan Heine

bicycle quarterlyMaybe it's easier to say what Bicycle Quarterly isn't. It isn't the magazine that grabs your attention from the center of the news rack. Black and white photos, line drawings, and lots of carefully chosen words fill each page. It's not a place to read about gap jumping, or to get an overview of the bikes that are hot this week.

Eurobike 2009

eurobike 2009Interbike is a bicycle tradeshow that's been held at various places in the western United States since, well, it started, I believe. It's an enormous show with vendors from all over the world presenting their best and brightest bicycle bits, big and small.
