New series airing on PBS takes cycling across the nation

There are countless great places to ride in the USA, but most of us will never get to visit them all. Now, thanks to a new show airing on PBS, we can take an inside look at what cycling culture is like in different parts of the cournty.

Ira David’s Pedal America and co-host Kati Lightholder travel from Florida to California, stopping everywhere from national parks to urban enviornments to educate, inspire, and encourage riders of all ages to rediscover their own communities.

The series — produced by Out-Write Media of Chicago — showcases best and safest routes; the development of bike trails, bikeways, and bike infrastructure; bicycle repair and maintenance to make cycling less intimidating; and personal stories of how bicycling has helped to transform lives.

Now, with the support of national sponsors such as Subaru, the show is airing on PBS stations across the country. Episodes in the first season include stops in Austin, Raystown Lake, Pa., Savannah, Ga., Napa Valley, Ca., Chicago, Sedona, Ariz., and Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla.
