Campagnolo recently announced a new, mid-level groupset called “Potenza,” which means power, intensity and strength in Italian. The 11-speed Potenza groupset benefits from trickle-down technology off Campy’s highest-end carbon groupsets: Super Record, Record and Chorus.
The aluminum crankset and rear derailleur are designed in the same manner as the carbon components of the Super Record group, with the only reported penalty being weight, not performance. Also trickling down are the ergonomics of the brake hoods and levers. The thumb paddle shifter also allows you to upshift three gears with one click, but only one gear at a time shifting down.
Cassette options include 11-27, 11-29, 11-32 and 12-27. The 11-32 is new for this line, offering a wider range. Crankset chainring options include 53/39, 52/36 and 50/34.
An all-silver groupset will also be available. Potenza will replace Campy’s Athena components and is intended to compete with Shimano Ultegra. Price was announced at just under 900 Euros for the kit.Tweet Print
