The League of American Bicyclists announced its 2011 Bicycle Friendly Universities this week, an offshoot of its traditional bike-friendly city awards.
The one Platinum award winner and two Gold medal winners were all in California. Stanford University earned the highest distinction, with UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara earning Gold. You can see a complete list of the winners here.
The program recognizes institutions of higher education for promoting and providing a more bicycle-friendly campus for students, staff and visitors. The BFU program provides the roadmap and technical assistance to create great campuses for cycling.
